Misconceptions about mental abilities and brain ageing often lead people to abandon youthful ambitions, or to decide early on they would be unsuccessful before even starting. This is often due to their believing one or more of three crippling, yet widely held myths about their own brain power. Myths which can quickly cripple the intellect and stunt the development of mental skills.
